Pineville city schools are implementing a new project for children to spend more time with their families.
Family night will be held Sept. 27. All after school activities, including tutoring, sports and practices, have been canceled for that day to let students go home for family time.
Today is High Attendance Day for Pineville schools. The goal is to have 100 percent attendance for kindergarten through 12th grade. This is a statewide event in which schools are divided into regions that compete for high attendance rate.
“If we have 100 percent for K through 12, we’re going to celebrate,” said Superintendent Terry Hayes.
Upcoming fundraisers for the school year include a Halloween dance to support the cheerleading team, a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale and a car wash to support various Pineville teams and clubs.
At the Pineville School Board meeting on Monday, it was voted that the tax rate would be kept at 55.3 per cent per 100 dollars of assessed value, which is a continuation of prior years taxation rate.
