Turner indicted for burglary, assault

The man accused of assaulting workers and destroying property at Middlesboro Health Care Facility has been indicted.

Jimmy Ray Turner, 31, of Middlesboro, was indicted for third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree terroristic threatening and four counts of fourth-degree assault.

According to the arrest citation, Turner went to the facility to try and make contact with his sister and mother. He then proceeded to burst through a locked door that led to the office of the facility, breaking the retracting hinge on the door.

The indictment states after Turner made his way through the door he physically assaulted Josh Hawk, Rusty Loza, Marcy Cole and Jimmie Prater. He allegedly wrapped his hands around Hawk’s neck and chocked him and ran Loza into the wall and office desk.

Turner allegedly grabbed Cole’s left arm and jaw and pushed her out of the way. He pushed Prater away from the office door before bursting through it, according to the citation.

Officer Keith Lowe and Sgt. Joe Holder of the Middlesboro Police Department were the case officers.

Randy Akers, who was accused of striking a man in the face with a gun, was also indicted recently. Akers, 34, of Beverly, was indicted for second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, alcohol intoxication in a public place, theft by unlawful taking and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the indictment, Akers hit Steve Hoskins in the eye and cheek with the barrel of a rifle. He also pointed the loaded weapon toward Hoskins and Charles Collett. He then proceeded to take the shotgun, which belonged to Collett, without permission.

According to the arrest citation, when officers spoke with Akers he allegedly had a strong alcohol odor on him. Deputy Joel Quillen of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department was the investigating officer.
