Police arrest woman on forgery charge

The Middlesboro Police Department arrested a woman on a forgery and theft charge on Friday.

Jennifer Lynn Gray, 33, of Middlesboro, was arrested by officer Jeremiah Johnson and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception.

According to the arrest citation, Gray attempted to cash a check at Bill’s Market. The check was made out to Robert Bennett in the amount of $222. Gray signed Bennett’s name and her name on the check.

The citation states Gray also wrote the Social Security number of Jack Hays, who lives in Lexington, on the check. It states Bennett said he did not give Gray consent to sign his name or cash the check.

The citation states Gray was arrested at the police department. She is being held at the Bell County Detention Center.
