Man faces multiple charges

GIRDLER — Kentucky State Police arrested a man on drug charges at Girdler on Thursday.

Dennis Wagers, 59, of Barbourville, was charged with first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.

At 6 p.m., KSP Post 10 in Harlan received a complaint that a vehicle was parked in the middle of the road on Prince Lane in Girdler and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel.

Trooper Jacob Wilson responded to the complaint and located the vehicle running while sitting in the middle of the road and in drive.

The operator (Wagers) was located in the vehicle and was unresponsive.

During Wilson’s investigation, he located 52 morphine pills, 40 Xanax pills, 46 other assorted pills and a small bag of marijuana, police said.

Wagers was also charged with improper parking, no insurance, prescription not in proper container, possession of marijuana and DUI.

The case is still under investigation by Wilson.
