A single-vehicle wreck on Wednesday resulted in two people being injured and one person being charged with driving under the influence.

Angela Caldwell, 36, of Middlesboro, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, no operator’s/moped license and first-degree wanton endangerment after a vehicle she was operating ran off the road on Old Pineville Pike.

According to Bell County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Shane Stewart, an 11-year-old was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Stewart said Barbara Carnes, a passenger in the vehicle, was also injured in the wreck.

Caldwell received no injures, Stewart said.

Stewart said Caldwell was on prescription medication and also had marijuana in her system at the time of the wreck. She was being held at the Bell County Detention Center.

Other agencies who responded to the wreck included Bell County Rescue Squad, Middlesboro Fire/EMS and the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department.
