Madison Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $500 grant from West Virginia American Water for children’s fire prevention and safety.

West Virginia American Water (WVAW) announced on July 9 that they would be donating $10,000 worth of grants to local fire departments.

The program, Firefighting Support Grant Program, is geared towards helping local fire departments purchase emergency gear, training materials or essential equipment.

“This initiative was developed as an annual program to show our appreciation for the men and women who serve in our local fire departments and remain dedicated 24/7 to the communities where our customers and our employees live and work,” said West Virginia American Water president Jeff McIntyre.

The program covers a range of expenses. A team of WVAW employees chose the 17 departments that would receive a piece of the grant.
