He was born May 29, 1949, at Garmeda, and was a lifelong Middlesboro resident. He was of the Pentecostal faith, and he loved God, life, his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mason of Middlesboro, whom he married in Middlesboro on March 20, 1997; two sons and one daughter, Brian Mason, Middlesboro, Edward (Gracie) Mason, London, Ky., and April (Johnny) Hensley, Middlesboro; two grandchildren, Airanna and Brook Hensley, both of Middlesboro; sisters, Shirley Mason Partin, Charlotte (Wentford) Abbott of Middlesboro, Diana Mason of Alsip, Ill., Louis Williams, Middlesboro, Mary (Jim) Tommila of Anderson, Ind., Donna (Paul) Daniel of Fisher, Ind., and Sherry Mason of Alsip, Ill.; one brother, Eugene Mason of Florence, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Charlene Mason of Middlesboro; one uncle, Lee Ed Mason of Amherst, Ohio; four aunts, Irene Fuson Mason of Amherst, Ohio, Dora Fuson Greer of Rensalearia, Ind., Lillie Fuson of Pardee, Va., and Carrie Mason of Canton, Ohio; nieces, Lynda Evans, Lisa Taylor of Middlesboro, Myra Gambrel, Lillie Widener of Penile, Briana Abujheisha of Alsip, Ill., Jacinda, Keaira and Isabella Tommila of Anderson, Ind., Kendra Gibson of Middlesboro, LaDonna Moyers of Alsip, Ill., Ericka Evans Middlesboro, Angie and Catlain Abbott, Kaylee Mason of Middlesboro, Lea’Andrea Burns of Alsip, Ill., Rebekah Gambrel of Penile, Madison Hembree of Middlesboro; nephews, Jason Abbott, Philip Partin, Gary Mason and Anthony Mason, all of Middlesboro, Shawn Gibson Alsip, Ill., Aaron and James (Bo) Gambrel, Jamie Widener, Kendall and Brandon Johnson, all of Penile, Christopher Burns of Alsip, Ill., Stacy Taylor, Bradley and Brandan Gilbert of Middlesboro, William, Cadan Moyers of Alsip, Ill., and Dustin Hembree Jr. of Middlesboro; a host of cousins and friends; and special friend, Kim Carmack.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ira and Lillie B. Fuson Mason; one brother, Fred H. Mason; one sister, Dona Sue Mason; five uncles, J.T. Mason, Virgil Mason, Daniel Fuson, Charles Waltz, Mitchel Jones; five aunts, Mary Mason Waltz, Vestina Mason Jones, Hazel Taylor Mason, and Virgie Mae Fuson Senters; the mother of his children, Martha Steelman Mason; paternal grandparents, Phillip Steve and Druzella Partin Mason; maternal grandparents, Thomas Henry and Joie Alice Jones, Fuson; and one brother-in-law, Ray Partin.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Willard and Rev. Paul Daniels officiating. Music will be provided by Alvie Cunningham and Howard Warwick.
Interment will follow in the Jonestown Cemetery at Jonestown, Ky. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of all arrangements.
