MIDDLESBORO —A Middlesboro man was arrested Thursday for parole violation and drug trafficking.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Detective Joe Holder of the Middlesboro Police Department, along with Officer Ken Burnett, and David Short of Probation and Parole, made contact with parolee Brandon Butler.

Butler was arrested by the Middlesboro Police Department for trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges through Probation and Parole are expected to be placed on Butler but were not available at press time.

Buter had failed to notify Probation and Parole of his address change, and was wanted for questioning regarding the matter. Officers located Butler hiding behind a bedroom door at 329 Chester Avenue in Apartment 4.

After receiving additional information and a consent to search, officers located a large quantity of cocaine, marijuana, cash, and a firearm at the residence, which led to the arrest.

Additional members of the Middlesboro Police Department assisting Holder were Lt. David Buis and Officers Justin Barton and Zack Churchwell.

Drug tips can be made to the Middlesboro Police Department by calling Detective Holder at 606-248-3636.
