Hilarie Spangler, a recent graduate of Middlesboro High School, has received a $1,000 scholarship from Middlesborough Little Theatre (MLT).
She plans to attend Western Kentucky University to pursue a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree. Spangler’s work with Middlesborough Little Theatre includes Cakewalk in the Sky, The Odd Couple and The Miracle Worker. She received a Distinguished Acting award at Kentucky State Theatre Competition for her role of Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker. She also appeared in Middlesboro High School’s production of Bye Bye Birdie.
Scholarship funds are raised by MLT each year with the annual “Evening of One Acts.” The upcoming productions will be Aug. 28-30 at the Middlesboro Community Center. A dinner theatre will be held on at 6:30 p.m. on Aug 28 with the show following at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are necessary and can be purchased for $25 by calling Judy Cox, MLT president, at 606-269-1968.
The Saturday show is at 7:30 p.m., with the Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. Tickets for these shows are $5 and are available at the door. Admission for the Saturday and Sunday shows includes a complimentary beverage and snack.
The public is urged to come out and support MLT’s scholarship program.
