Maj. George Gibson NSDAR Regent Nancy Britton presented Thomas Walker High School senior Shawn Williams with a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and recognition card for his outstanding qualities in the areas of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. The chapter is proud to honor Williams as the 2016 DAR Good Citizen.

Shawn was selected by the Thomas Walker faculty and senior class as the student most deserving of this year’s award.

Some of his accomplishments include playing basketball, football and baseball at Thomas Walker from eighth- through 12th-grade along with being a member of the track team since the eighth-grade.

During his junior year, he was in the top 10 all-time rushing leaders at Thomas Walker and first team all-district. Shawn has been an active member of First Priority since the eighth-grade, has completed two years in Spanish and is on the honor roll. He has been a library assistant, is treasurer of his class, has tutored in history this year and won Mr. Pioneer.

He is the son of Doug and Sheila Williams, of Ewing, Virginia.
