Cumberland Crafts   Cumberland Crafts is a shop of the "Southern Highland Craft Guild". We are one of the oldest guilds in the USA. The first qualification is the artist must live in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. They then go through a 5 step jury process. This is where there work is juried by a panel of their peers. Most of them have several attempts before being juried. Once they have been accepted though they have perfected their craft. They jury in a certain media such as clay, wood, jewelry,glass, fiber, etc.   Once they have become a member of the guild they can have their work in the shops. There are 5 shops of the guild, 2 in Asheville, 1 in Blowing Rock, 1 in Gatlinburg and ours in Ky. We were the 5th shop and will be here 10 years in september. We have different members who come and give demonstrations of their crafts. In september we will be having a huge event with the park to coincide with our 10th anniversary. It will be "HOMESPUN APPALACHIAN". There will be many demonstrations and interpeters.
