‘Knock and talk’ leads to arrest

Charges include meth, cocaine

A Miracle man is behind bars on numerous drug charges after police say they found the drugs in his motel room.

Ryan David Snowden, 18, of Miracle, was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine), trafficking in less than eight ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.

According to the arrest citation, Middlesboro Police Department Sgt. Joe Holder and Officer Doug Jordan conducted a ‘knock and talk’ at room 325 of the Days Inn.

Holder said he received numerous complaints of Snowden trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine.

The citation states, upon knocking on the door the officers smelled a strong odor of burning marijuana coming from inside the motel room. Upon contact, officers found Snowden sitting on the bed. Holder asked Snowden where the marijuana was, then Snowden opened up the night stand door and pointed to three partially burned marijuana cigarettes. Holder also observed in the drawer — two baggies of a white powdery substance, a baggy of a clear rocky substance, razor blades, a straw and plastic baggies.

According to the citation, Snowden also had in his possession — a clear plastic baggy containing half of a suspected hydrocodone tablet partially marked VT36, crushed marijuana, a loaded marijuana pipe and $255.

Snowden has a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled to be in court on Aug. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
