For the 34th year, the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival will fill downtown Middlesboro with artisan goods, live music and delicious fried foods. This year, event organizers are expecting a bigger event and larger turnout than ever in the past.

The festival will run Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the city parking lot and along Cumberland Ave. in downtown Middlesboro.

Live music will include performances throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, including the acclaimed country music duo Sundy Best.

“(Sundy Best) is great and we looked for music that we know people will enjoy. Because they’re from around here, they have music that people can relate to. Since it’s a free show, we’re expecting a great turnout for that,” said CMFF vice-chairman Jon Grace.

Other local performers will include Malachi, Jade Robertson and Chenoa Destiny Partin, to name a few. Blues singer JJ Thames will be performing on the Levitt AMP stage on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in conjunction with the semi-finals of the Voice of the Cumberland Mountains singing competition.

For golfers, a CMFF Par 3 tournament will be taking place at Middlesboro Country Club for $20 per person.

“This festival belongs to the community of Middlesboro so we’re experimenting with different events for people. We’re trying to improve upon old things and trying some new things and seeing how that affects turnout,” said Grace.

The Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival Pageant will be held before the festival, on Sept. 25. Winners will be crowned on Oct. 1 at 11 a.m.

Also on Oct. 1 will be the EMS Roaddocs/CMFF benfit motorcycle ride, in which 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the family of Forest Howard. The ride will cover more than 100 miles for a $15 donation per bike. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and kickstands will go up at 11:45 a.m.

“There are so many people, volunteers who have worked on this festival to get it where it is now. We have a great committee who are new and people that have been there in the past, but we’ve all worked hard for an event that the community can be proud of,” said Grace.

The festival will also include a car show, an Elite K-9 Dog Performance and a faith-based performance by the Omega Force Strength Team.
