Superintendent Terry Hayes has informed the Pineville Independent School Board that he has accepted a position as superintendent at another district in western Kentucky, which is close to his home.
“We are very appreciative of Mr. Hayes’ service to our district and wish him every success in the future. He is leaving Pineville Independent in excellent condition. Our board anticipated this move and has been proactive. We fully expect to have an experienced and well qualified interim superintendent in place very quickly, possibly as early as next week, to give us a smooth transition and a steady hand at the wheel while we conduct a careful search for the best possible replacement for Mr. Hayes.
“While our search will be conducted with all deliberate care, we are also very gratified to learn of two very high quality candidates who are interested in becoming the next superintendent of Pineville Independent School. Thus, while Mr. Hayes’ departure is a loss, we also see it as an exciting opportunity for Pineville Independent to move to the next level of success,” said vice chairman of the Pineville Independent School Board James R. Golden.
