Good news is something everyone enjoys reading about and is informative while staying upbeat. Ronny and Elaine Smith say they want to spread good news through the launch of their new business, Beauty of 3 and Pinnacle View Magazine.
The Bell County Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting to show their support.
“(Pinnacle View Magazine) promotes the spirit of Appalachia and (the Smiths) write compelling stories about the people who are celebrating life and making a difference here in the Tri-State,” said Candice Barnett, Executive Director of the Bell County Chamber of Commerce.
Beauty of 3 is named after the surrounding three counties — Lee, Claiborne and Bell. The online-based magazine shares stories which focus on local happenings, businesses, events, history, celebrations and interesting stories involving residents.
According to Ronny, his father was a coal miner and storyteller who influenced his love for a good story and impacted his decision to work for Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, giving tours and telling stories about the history of the area.
“We have a unique mountain heritage — one that needs to be preserved and shared with each generation to come,” said Smith. “We have many people living in the Beauty of 3 who have worked hard and given much to our Tri-State community.”
To celebrate the launch of their new project, Elaine wrote lyrics for a song that was performed by Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley — Bell and Claiborne County natives respectively, and International Bluegrass Music Association award winners. To showcase the visual beauty of the area, the Smiths also published a music video at the Pinnacle Overlook in CGNHP.
“The Pinnacle is such a beloved place for me and my wife. The breathtaking views of God’s handiwork and the many memories we have made there are priceless,” said Smith.
