Job fair coming to Pennington Gap

The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) of Lee County, Virginia and the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) will host a job fair at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11 at the Pennington Gap Community Center.

Employers confirmed for the fair include: Construction — Brock Services, Estes Brothers Construction, Glass Machinery and Southwest Heating & Air/Southwest Propane; healthcare — Harlan ARH Hospital, Lee Health & Rehab, Mountain States Health Alliance and Stone Mountain Health Services; retail — Lowe’s, Subway and Taco Bell; Financial — Lee Bank & Trust and Powell Valley National Bank.

The employment fair will have an open format. Each employer will have a table with one to two representatives available to accept resumes and applications and answer any questions.

Interested job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and bring several copies of their resume. Job seekers may interact with as many of the employers as they wish.

“We are excited to bring this employment fair to Pennington Gap. The IDA and the Virginia Employment Commission have a great working relationship. We hope to have a full house on Aug. 11,” stated Michael James, IDA director and Stephen Mullins, workforce services representative for VEC.

The mission of the IDA of Lee County is to promote and facilitate economic growth and development in Lee County by recruiting manufacturing, industrial and commercial enterprises to locate or remain in Lee County, promote entrepreneurism and to enhance the economic well-being of the citizens of Lee County. Michael James has been director of the authority since May 2011.
