Police seeking public’s assistance

The Kentucky State Police issued a press release on Saturday seeking the public’s assistance in locating a jail escapee.

According to KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs, Kentucky State Police, Post 10 received a call from a deputy jailer from the Harlan County Detention Center at 12:so a.m. The deputy jailer stated Christopher Thacker, 21, had escaped from the jail’s custody while on Ky 38 in Ages community of Harlan County.

Troopers Andy Soltess, John Carlock, Kenny Sergent and TFC. Dallas Eubanks responded to the scene.

Jacobs said preliminary investigations indicates while the deputy jailer was returning Thacker from Harlan ARH Hospital, Thacker held an unknown metal object to his throat. Thacker told the deputy he would cut him if he didn’t release him. Thacker was released just prior to the jail in the Ages community of Harlan County and the deputy was not injured.

Post 10 is asking for the public’s assistance with locating Thacker. He was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit, white T-shirt, and one flip flop. Thacker is a white male, 5’7’’, and 160 pounds. He also has red hair and hazel eyes. You can contact Post 10 at 606-573-3131.

Case is still under investigation by Carlock.
