Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Freeman acted on an anonymous tip Saturday night and apprehended jail escapee Christopher Thacker.
According to the citation, Freeman and officers with the Harlan City Police Department took Thacker into custody at a residence in Coxton. Thacker, 21, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. and placed back in to custody after escaping from a deputy jailer at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to an earlier press release, while the deputy jailer was returning Thacker from Harlan ARH Hospital, Thacker held an unknown metal object to his throat. Thacker told the deputy he would cut him if he didn’t release him. Thacker was released just prior to the jail in the Ages community of Harlan County and the deputy was not injured.
Thacker, who was incarcerated on charges of burglary and theft, now faces charges of first-degree escape and first-degree wanton endangerment. He is being held without bond on the new charges.
