Dean dies in house fire

Kentucky State Police troopers were called to a structure fire early Sunday morning at Stanfill after a report of a person being trapped inside the residence.

According to Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs, April Dean, 26, was found unresponsive inside her residence that became engulfed with fire.

Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich pronounced the female deceased at the scene.

KSP Arson Investigator Josh Bunch was called to the scene to conduct an investigation as well as the State Fire Marshal.

KSP Det. Josh Howard is in charge of the investigation. He was assisted by Troopers Brandon Burton and Taylor Mills.

The Sunshine Volunteer and the Harlan City fire departments responded to the scene to contain the fire.
