A Florida man is behind bars at the Bell County Detention Center after officers say they found him with over 100 pills in his possession.
Orwin Greene, 39, of Cocoa, Florida, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation, Middlesboro Police Officer Barry Cowan met a Toyota vehicle northbound on North 17th Street on Tuesday evening, when he noticed the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Cowan says he conducted a stop on Ashbury Road and Greene was a passenger in the vehicle.
Cowan says Greene was asked to step out of the vehicle while officers were conducting a search. At this time, Greene was searched and found to have 130 blue round pills in his front pants pocket.
In other police news, a Middlesboro woman was recently arrested for first-degree possession of a controlled substance after officers say she had meth in her purse.
According the arrest citation, Kaelea M. Thomas, 26, was in a physical altercation with a man Monday evening on 38th Street. The parties were separated and both indicated drug usage on each other. Officers conducted a search of Thomas’ person and purse. Upon search of the purse, a gold zip-up bag containing needles, alcohol swabs, filters and tweezers were found. Inside the corner pocket, officers say they found a clear baggy containing crystal-like glass shards that field tested positive for meth.
Thomas is being held on a $1,000 cash bond.
Others recently arrested include:
*Charles Leonard Templeton, 45, of Pineville, receiving stolen property up to $10,000;
*Rose Girdner, 33, of Pineville, receiving stolen property up to $10,000.
