Serious car crash at Turkey Creek

William Tribell | Daily News Three people were injured in a car crash at Turkey Creek late Wednesday night.


A pursuit ended in a crash Wednesday night off U.S. 25E at Turkey Creek.

Kentucky State Police Capt. P.J. Burnett was on the scene and gave the following information.

“Trooper George Howard was attempting to stop the car for a traffic violation at which time they fled,” said Burnett. “We had no contact — it was a single-vehicle crash, a male driver and two females. That is all we know at this time.”

Tammy Daniels lives on the road where the crash occurred. She said it happened just after 11 p.m.

“I heard the chase and a big bang,” said Daniels. “My sister and I were the first ones down there and the car went straight in the turn and crashed into a big rock bank. A girl was in the car screaming and another person had jumped out and ran and the police officers chased them down.”

All three occupants of that car were taken to Pineville and airlifted to a trauma center. No further details have been made available at this time.

Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstructionist Kenny Sergent was called to the scene from Harlan County to investigate the crash. The Bell County Sheriff”s Department, the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, the Bell County Rescue Squad, Bell County EMS, and Knox County EMS were all on the scene to assist.
