Christoper George Dixon was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center on a charge of attempted murder Tuesday.
Dixon, 26, is accused of assaulting Irene Cashell White, 38, with a machete.
According to police, Dixon was booked in the Bell County Detention Center following an initial arrest in Claiborne County on June 1. Dixon was charged with attempted murder, however it is listed as murder on the Bell County Detention Center website because the site does not have an attempted murder entry option.

Police said the incident occurred at the apartments where White was attacked and stabbed with a machete, receiving serious injuries. The police report stated that White had multiple deep lacerations about her body and was covered in blood.
At the time of the incident, White was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville due to injuries sustained in her torso, arms, legs and hands.
The press release states that White remains at UT and her condition is improving. She has given a complete statement to the investigating officer.
Officer Clay Hurd is in charge of the investigation. He was assisted by Lt. Mike Hensley, Officer Keith Lowe, Officer Josh Burchett and Chief Jeff Sharpe.
