‘Songs of Service’ recognition event slated

BIG STONE GAP, Va. —The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park is hosting “Songs of Service” in honor of the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Sept. 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

“Songs of Service” is the fifth annual event at the park honoring first responders, members of the armed forces and other community servants.

“Songs of Service” will feature a performance by Tim McDonald and the UVA-Wise Bluegrass Band. In addition to live music, hot dogs and refreshments will be available for a donation.

Donations will benefit the Big Stone Gap Fire Department. All police, fire, armed forces and rescue members who attend in uniform will receive a free hot dog and a drink.

“Songs of Service” is free and open to the public.
