Court approves agenda items

The Bell County Fiscal Court met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday and approved all of the items on the agenda.

First on the agenda was the payment of bills, making necessary transfers, accepting treasurer’s financial statement for last month and accepting the sheriff’s claim sheet for last month. All of these items were unanimously approved.

The fiscal court unanimously voted to appoint Stace Holland to the Bell County 109 Board to fill the unexpired term of recent retiree John Robbins. The term will expire May 2016.

The 2015 Bell County Detention Center Policy and Procedure Manual was unanimously approved and it was noted there were not any changes in the manual.

The court also unanimously voted to record the 2015 tax rates set by the Bell County Board of Education School District. The rates for both real and personal property are 56.7 cents per $100 of assessed value.

The following individuals were approved by the fiscal court to be hired as part-time deputy jailers at $7.25 per hour, effective Sept. 10: Jerry Lynn Allen, Jennifer Elizabeth Teague, Derek Adam Singleton, Jonathan Lee Rowland and Braxton Adkins. Adam Evans was approved to be hired as a part-time dispatcher at $8 per hour, and Franklin D. Emert was approved to be hired as part-time, both positions being effective Sept. 10. The rate of pay for Jason McCullough was approved to be changed to $8.25 per hour and it was also approved to change Whitney Baker from full-time court security to full time deputy jailer, both effective Sept. 10.

The fiscal court unanimously approved the 2014 Bell County Board of Education property tax settlement for the Bell County Sheriff. It was noted the settlement was subject to audit.

The fiscal court accepted checks in the amount of $10,393.38 from Bell County Sheriff Mitch Williams for fees and taxes and $28,675.88 from Bell County Clerk Debbie Gambrel for excess fees. The funds are deposited into the county general fund.
