HARROGATE, Tenn. — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and the Tennessee Arts Commission will present an Appalachian Art Workshops on June 12 and 13. Sugar Run Baskets’ Gary Carroll will present a lecture, demonstration and class on white oak basket making over the two days.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m., in the Cumberland Gap Arts Center and will include lecture, demonstration and instruction.
All Appalachian Art workshops will be free and open to the public and are made possible through grant funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
With the mission to cultivate the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities, the Tennessee Arts Commission funds a variety of arts projects through several grant categories. In 2013, through the Tennessee Arts Commission grant programs, $6.3 million was invested across Tennessee in all 95 counties to over 600 organizations, over half of which were schools.
