Enjoy ‘Get Outdoors Day’ Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. – June is Great Outdoors Month in Virginia, and June 13 is Get Outdoors Day. There’s no better place to enjoy the outdoors than Virginia State Parks, where special programs and activities are offered to mark the occasion.

From the casually curious to the dedicated outdoor enthusiast, Virginia State Parks offer something for everyone. From traditional opportunities for swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking to special introductory clinics and programs, a complete list of June 13 Get Outdoors Day programs can be found here: http://bit.ly/GODay2015.

Special activities include night hikes, a large telescope program, a sunset wagon ride and a special guided hike where you’re invited to bring your dog.

Throughout June, nearly 1,500 activities and events are available in state parks. For the complete list, visit, http://bit.ly/GreatOutdoors2015.

If you’d like to spend the night, campgrounds await, while the normal week stay requirement for cabins has been removed for June, so you can book at any park for a minimum of two nights. Call 800-933-7275 for reservations and information.
