Inmate escapes from Bell Co. Jail custody


Jason Thomas Carbone has reportedly escaped from custody at the Bell County Detention Center.

Carbone, 38, is 5’10” and weighs 144 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange jail jumpsuit.

Carbone was arrested in Middlesboro on Friday. He is allegedly connected to several burglaries in both Claiborne and Union counties.

According to reports from the Middlesboro Police Department, Officer Chuck Bruce arrested Carbone at Junction Apartments around 12:47 a.m. Officials have been searching for Carbone for over a month.

Carbone is charged by the MPD on three counts of being a fugitive. He is wanted in Claiborne County, Union County and Oxford, North Carolina, according to the citations.

Carbone was being sought after officials found alleged stolen items in August at his residence on Widner Road in New Tazewell.

No other information is available regarding Carbone’s escape.
