The Middlesboro Bell County Public Library has a new Children’s Librarian, Caitlin Jeffrey and as the saying goes — she has hit the ground running. Jeffrey is educated as a teacher and has often substituted in Pineville. She will soon start courses in library sciences for her librarianship.
I know I’m new and this is something I’ve not done before,” said Jeffery. “But my teaching background is planning background and programming, so I think that is going to help me a lot with making programs and reaching out to kids and engaging them.”
Jeffery and the children’s department at the library have set a full schedule for October. Anyone interested in participating are welcome.
Story Time will continue, but will now be held from 4-4:45 p.m every Wednesday. Boys and girls 5- to 10 years old are invited to come and join Jeffery for fairy tales, tall tales, spooky tales, and lots of adventure. Each story time will have a different craft or activity to go along with the stories. Story Time dates for the month are Oct. 7, 14 and 21.
No changes have been made to Toddler Time. the group will continue to meet at 10-11:15 a.m. every Thursday morning. Children 18 months to 4 years old along with their parents and guardians are welcome to share in Toddler Time. The group will sing, dance, play and read new stories each week. Toddler Time dates are on Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22.
The children’s department will also be hosting movies on select days.
On Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. the Toddler Time movie will be Monsters University, It is G rated.
On Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. the Story Time movie will be “The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It.” It is rated PG-13.
The library will host a Halloween party Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. Jeffery asks that anyone interested in attending the party please register with the library so they may know how many people to plan for.
