Alleged sex crime


A Middlesboro man was arrested Friday for allegedly masturbating in the Middlesboro Library. Jerry Woody Slusher, 65, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse by Middlesboro Officer Jeremiah Johnson.

According to the arrest citation, the incident occurred in the presence of a 12-, 14- and 16-year-old. Police say Slusher knew the female juveniles were present.

He was also charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance . The arrest citation states, as a result of a search, police found a pill bottle with the label torn off. Police found 11 pills believed to be hydrocodone inside. They also found several text messages with references to trafficking.

Slusher was arrested at 29th Street and Exeter Avenue. He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center. Johnson was assisted by Middlesboro Lt. Tom Busic.

Others arrested recently include:

• Charles Pryor, 29, of Middlesboro, cultivating marijuana five plants or more and possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Doyle Wayne Brock, 39, of Pineville, theft by unlawful taking;

• Barbara Bishop, 28, of Rose Hill, Va., theft of identity of another without consent, theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) and was served two bench warrants;

• Brian K. Redmond, 31, of Middlesboro, second-degree burglary;

• Jamie Mason, 28, of Middlesboro, second-degree burglary;

• Thomas Phillips, 48, of Pineville, first-degree sexual abuse;

• Garrett Matthew Buell, 32, of Coldiron, first- and second-degree fleeing or evading police, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license, speeding 12 mph over the limit and was served a bench and probation/parole violation warrants.
