It’s more than bingo, it’s high energy entertainment, tied in with fun games, black lights and so much more. The Harlan County Humane Society, organization No. 0002410, will host the county’s first ever “Cosmic Bingo” Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bingo Hall in Totz.
“If you haven’t heard of the new bingo phenomenon that’s sweeping across American, you’re missing out. It’s the popular game of Bingo only with a twist. We call it ‘Cosmic Bingo’ because it’s out of this world fun,” said HCHS President Marcella Chadwick.
Tickets are limited to 200 and are on sale now. Chadwick said the cost is $30 per ticket and includes a glow pack, glow dauber, barbecue dinner, tickets to “Minute to Win It” and “Let’s Make a Deal” games along with some other surprises. The total payout for the event will be $5,000.
“The bingo session will be held under black lights and there will be glow items for participants to wear,” said HCHS treasurer Stanley Farley. “This is brand new to the Harlan County area and it is a one night event.”
Farley said 50 tickets have already been sold and those wishing to attend do have to pre-register.
“We are having a ‘Best Dressed to Glow’ contest and the winner will receive $100,” said Farley. “In between the bingo games there will be other games held with cash prizes. We’re in the big blue building at the Totz exit off U.S. 119. You can’t miss us.”
Chadwick said the Humane Society decided to host this event “to bring something new and different to Harlan County.”
“People are always saying we wish we had something different to do, well now you do — Cosmic Bingo,” Chadwick said. “If this event is successful we will try to do it every three months with the next one being before Christmas. This is a large pot and we will be doing the full $5,000 payout that night. Tickets are going fast and if you want one you need to call today. This is going to be an exciting event and you don’t want to miss it.”

“If someone in Harlan wants a ticket and they are unable to get to the Bingo Hall they can just call me and I’ll meet them somewhere with the tickets,” Chadwick said. “All proceeds from this event will benefit the Harlan County Humane Society.”
