Donations from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, Tenn., benefited the Bell County Animal Shelter. Four hundred pounds of dog food was donated by the church on Tuesday. Members of the church drove through the area headed to volunteer at Red Bird Mission in Beverly. “We realized the mines are shutting down and people are straining a little bit. If we’re going to help people we might as well help out the dogs,” said church volunteer Paul Givens.
