A Pineville woman was charged with promoting contraband following an arrest for misdemeanor charges on Friday.

Michelle Lee Brock, 41, was charged with two counts of first-degree promoting contraband. She was initially arrested by Lt. Tom Busic of the Middlesboro Police Department and charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500 and second-degree criminal trespass.

According to the arrest citation, a Walmart employee reported that she observed Brock select a large purse, remove the stuffing from it and then conceal $204.94 worth of merchandise in it (including the purse). She then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.

Brock was allegedly banned from all Walmart stores after being caught shoplifting in a Walmart store in Laurel County.

The citation states after Brock was arrested she took 56 oxycodone pills into the Bell County Jail by putting them in a bottle and hiding the bottle in a discreet area. The bottle was discovered by deputy jailer Jessica Hall. Alprozolam pills were also found inside the same bottle.

Brock was also charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance because she did not have a prescription for the alprozolam.

In other police news, Stacy McIntosh, 24, of Middlesboro was arrested by Sgt. Joe Holder of the MPD on Friday. She was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and for possessing drug paraphernalia.
