A routine traffic stop on Sunday resulted in the arrest of a Lily man.
Dusty Edward Ellison, 33, was arrested by Middlesboro Police Officer Keith Lowe and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation, Ellison was pulled over for taking a wide right turn and being on the wrong side of the road. The officer said upon contact he had slurred speech. As a result of a search, police found 18 white capsules believed to be gabapentin, half of a blue round tablet believed to be oxycodone, one Suboxone strip, nine white round tablets and six yellow tablets believed to be clonazepam.
Ellison was also charged with rear license not illuminated, failure to produce an insurance card, failure to wear a seat belt, illegal possession of a legend drug, improper turning and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
In other police news, Raymond Farr Jr., 18, of Middlesboro, was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun in the air at the Middlesboro city parking lot on July 31. Farr was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
According to the arrest citation, Farr was “manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life” when he shot a loaded silver pistol in the air in the parking lot. The report states several witnesses said they saw Farr with the firearm in the parking lot and heard the gun shot.
The citation states once the pistol was recovered it was not registered to Farr. He was charged with receiving stolen property (firearm). He was also charged with third-degree criminal trespassing for being on property belonging to Willie Fuson on Edgewood Road. He was previously banned from the property.
Farr was lodged in the detention center.
Other recent arrest and charges include:
• Michael Anthony Nader, 33, of Barbourville, two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication and was served three bench warrants;
• Glen Ryan Bortz, 28, of Pineville, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree possession of a controlled substance;
• Jessica Nicole Lawson, 33, of Barbourville, theft by deception under $10,000 and public intoxication;
• Travis Allen Burchett, 23, of Middlesboro, receiving stolen property under $10,000.
