With the fiscal year coming to an end, Main Street Pineville Director Jacob Roan gave the Pineville City Council a review and forecast of the organization’s activities in a recent meeting.

Over the past year, the organization has received multiple donations from civic organizations and local businesses. MSP received $2,000 from the Pineville Rotary Club to be put towards KidsFest and new tables. They are seeking contributions from other civic organizations as well.

Recently, MSP received news that they will begin a new partnership which will award them $10,000 toward the downtown entertainment programs, according to Roan.

Roan said the organization has helped new businesses in the past year get started by connecting them with local resources such as Kentucky Highlands and the Small Business Development Center.

MSP also created the Courthouse Square Beautification project. Updates to Main Street Park include patio lighting, customized solar-powered umbrellas, landscaping, stage lighting and a sound system.

Roan said in the upcoming year, MSP plans to create new events such as the Small Business Christmas Open House, Local Art Exposition, Christmas Tour of Churches and the Main Street Gala. There are also plans to create a community garden.

MSP looks to finalize and seek funding to complete the Courthouse Square Beautification Plan with the Pineville Utility Commission, according to Roan.

Roan said that in January 2015, MSP will begin hosting community events to begin development of a feasibility study and revitalization plan for downtown Pineville. The project will be facilitated and implemented by the Kentucky League of Cities.
