Middlesboro running back Ryan Pittman has been named the 2013 Southeastern Kentucky Conference offensive player of the year in the Class 1A and 2A division. He’s one of several area players to be honored by coaches as they put together this year’s All-SEKC teams.


Pittman, a junior, ran for 1374 yards and 12 touchdowns on 156 carries for the Yellow Jackets as they went 9-3 and won the Class 2A, District 7 championship. Other Middlesboro players to receive specialty award include senior lineman Tyler Prater, senior linebacker/receiver Austin Poindexter and junior defensive back/running back Seth Barton.


Pineville senior running back Conner Ford was named the offensive back of the year after running for 1152 yards and 15 touchdowns on 132 carries. Senior linebacker Matt Hubbard led the Mountain Lion defense with 108 tackles. Pineville finished 7-5 after placing second in Class 1A, District 6.


Several Williamsburg Yellow Jackets also earned awards along coach Jerry Harron, who was named coach of the year. Williamsburg had their best season in school history as they went 11-3 and advanced all the way to the Class 1A state championship game.

Defensive player of the year: Jefferson Patrick, Williamsburg


Offensive lineman of the year: Travis Laws, Harlan


Offensive back of the year: Conner Ford, Pineville


Quarterback of the year: Dalton Sizemore, Williamsburg


Co-Linebackers of the year: Matt Hubbard, Pineville; and Austin Poindexter, Middlesboro


Receiver of the year: Corey Shelton, Williamsburg


All-purpose player of the year: Aaron Mills, Lynn Camp


Co-Defensive linemen of the year: Tyler Prater, Middlesboro; and Chris Helton, Williamsburg


Defensive back of the year: Seth Barton, Middlesboro


Coach of the year: Jerry Harron, Williamsburg
