I hope you are having a great summer and enjoying your time off. I appreciate your hard work and loyalty to Pineville Independent. It is vital to our continued success.
There are exciting things happening at Pineville Independent. As we gear up for another great year, I want to send a friendly reminder that on Monday, Aug. 4, we will have our Back to School Bash from 6-7:30 p.m. on the football field. Kindergarten and other new students may tour the building from 7:30-8 p.m.
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 8 a.m.. Students will be dismissed at noon on Tuesday.
As we move toward the future I want you to know how important it is for ALL students to attend school each day and to do their best. We will continue doing what we do BEST — providing a great educational experience for everyone and producing a GREAT product.
I’m looking forward to another exciting year as we continue the forward progress of our learning community. As always, “It’s a Great Day to be a Mountain Lion!”

I would like to express my appreciation to JR Hoe and Co., Vets Serving Vets and the City of Middlesboro Street Department.
Over the past two months, some really neat collaboration has taken place directly behind the Desert Storm Monument the southeast corner of the city parking lot.
Ten American flags in descending heights have been erected by the service club Vets Serving Vets. This was made possible by a generous donation from JR Hoe and Co., a flagstand made out of a steel I beam.
The city street department cleared the weeds along the bank of the creek and poured three cement foundation blocks for the I beam to rest. The Vets Serving Vets set up the flag poles and the flags. Please take the time to see this most beautiful display of patriotism!
Appreciation is also expressed to the city street department for giving the Middlesboro Chamber landscaping a much needed cleaning.
