Ordinances were passed at Tuesday’s city council meeting which will condense the pay grades of city paramedics, personnel and firefighters/paramedics. This ordinance will allow for 10 pay grades but will only make small changes in the amounts paid to those employees.

These ordinances also allow the city to employ 25 firefighters. There is also the capability of hiring part-time paramedics to assist in emergency situations.

Other business addressed at the meeting included:

* Council committee reports were read;

* Approval of city bills paid;

* Approval of minutes from previous meeting;

* Approval of a special-called council meeting;

Fifteen home condemnations occurred since the previous report and seven new business licenses were issued.

Middlesboro city trick-or-treat will be on Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
