Three individuals have been arrested and additional charges are pending for thefts that occurred in various areas around Lee County.

Amanda Ondra, 34, of Pennington Gap, Shannon Lee West, 36, of Pennington Gap, and William General Russell, 37, of Ben Hur, were all charged with two counts of Grand Larceny.

Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons reported that Deputy Gene Lewis was patrolling in the Stickleyville section of the county when he observed a suspicious vehicle setting beside of Old Ridge Road. When Lewis approached the vehicle he found it to be loaded with batteries and radiators and occupied by two men and a woman.

Parsons said that while Lewis was investigating the 911 center, he received three separate reports of stolen batteries.

According to Parsons, two of the suspects admitted to stealing the items from different locations in the Jonesville, Woodway and Dryden areas.

Russell was released on bond. Ondra and West remained at the Duffield Regional Jail on Wednesday.

Parsons said further charges are forthcoming as officers continue to locate victims and have stolen property identified.

He commended Lewis for being so observant and also the citizens who reported the theft so promptly, which led to the arrests.
