Bell County Fiscal Court approved three electrical inspector contracts during the regular meeting on Tuesday. Those contracts were for James Burchfield, Rondall Kent Smith and Jerome K. Howard.
Approving electrical inspector contracts in open court is something new that lawmakers now require fiscal courts to do. Bell County Judge-Executive Albey Brock said lawmakers put forth new restrictions and guidelines on the procedure requiring more detailed contracts with electrical inspectors.
In the past, the judge-executive approved the electrical inspectors. Now they have to enter into a contract and bring the contract before the court.
The fiscal court also accepted checks in the amount of $362,831.71 from Bell County Sheriff Bruce Bennett. Of that $362,831.71, the majority of it comes from the fee account in the amount of $151,099.69. The gas tax totaled $15,306.11, the oil tax collected was $13,572.11 and the fire acres tax collected was $820.67.
The sheriff also collected $182,033.13 in property tax.
Other action taken during the meeting included:
*Payment of bills and made necessary transfers;
* Accepted the treasurer’s financial statement for last month;
* Accepted the sheriff’s claim sheet for fee account for last month;
* Accepted Grandbaby Lane into the Bell County Road System in District 5;
