The Children’s Reading Foundation of Appalachia is gearing up for the Read Across America event on March 8. This event shows the importance of reading to children by passing out free literature to children to encourage them to continue reading.

On March 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Middlesboro Mall will have several tables of vendors and volunteers set up to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Volunteers are still needed to assist with the event geared towards families, literacy and children’s services. CRFA will be hosting volunteer meetings on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at their Middlesboro Mall location.

Exhibit spaces and time slots for center-stage entertainment are available and free of charge. It is requested that each booth be information-driven and provide a free item to children ages 8 and under.

More information can be found by visiting the CRFA Facebook page, by calling 606-269-8293 or by sending an email to debbieknuckles247@yahoo.com.
