The Bell County Fiscal Court held a special-called meeting on Thursday to hold the first reading of the 2014-2015 proposed budget. Bell County Judge-Executive Albey Brock said although the budget was tough to put together, it is a good budget. He credits having a good budget to Erma Brooks and Clara Miracle.
“Erma and Clara put a tremendous amount of work into preparing this budget for the court and for myself,” said Brock.
Brock said putting together a budget is a daunting task that takes days to do.
“You’ve got to put a lot of attention to a lot of things especially in this environment that we’re operating in now with shrinking revenue basically at every level,” said Brock. “Putting together a good budget is not what it once was.”
In the proposed budget, the general fund appropriation amount is $4,504,624. Other highlights of the budget include a road fund of $4,456,766, a jail fund of $1,393,301 and an ambulance service fund of $1,556,772.
Adventure Tourism received a budget appropriation amount of $76,893.
