A new evaluation plan was approved at Monday’s school board meeting. The Professional Growth Evaluation System will be implemented for the 2014-2015 school year and will aid in the assessment process for current and future teachers.

“If it’s not our cup of tea, the state says we could come up with another evaluation system. I think this one will work for us so we’ll go with what the state suggests,” said Pineville Superintendent Terry Hayes.

Pineville Elementary School Principal Elaine Smith recently resigned from her position to spend more time with her family. Pineville School Board will post notice of the vacancy and find a replacement for the upcoming school year.

The upcoming school year will mark the beginning of the state mandated 1 percent pay increase for teachers across Kentucky. The board approved the salary schedules at their most recent meeting.

Pineville schools have spent approximately 91.5 percent of their budget for the year ending June 30. Approximately 2 percent of the remaining portion will be added to the contingency fund as is recommended by the Kentucky Board of Education.

The fall sports schedules, including varsity football, have been released. They are available for pickup from the school.
