The Cumberland Tourist Commission hosts the event each year from May through September. “The goal is to bring people into our area to eat at our restaurants, stay in our hotels and visit our local tourist attractions.” said Director Tracy Bailey.
An encroachment permit was obtained from the Kentucky Transportation Department to close Main Street in Cumberland to host this event every fourth Saturday.
The live band this month was Midlife Crisis out of Hazard. The tourist commission obtained a grant for the gazebo, through the Frazier Foundation, and wants it to be put to good use. This is a family atmosphere where people feel comfortable bringing their children and people of all ages are present.
Seventy-five bikers attended, and many people from the community came out to watch the games, look at the motorcycles and listen to music. Bailey said that her office received a lot of compliments on the band.
There was also a new vendor this month, Mark Hudack. Hot dogs and BBQ sandwiches were sold out of his mobile cart.
Appreciation is expressed to all volunteers.
Bailey added, “This year has been a lot of fun for us hosting this event. We have been getting positive feedback from some of our local restaurants that have been receiving business from these motorcyclists that stop by before or after the event. We look forward to hosting Bike Night again next year.” “ We hope that you will go on our Facebook page and send us your ideas on how we might make this event even better next year.”
