The descendants of Lyne S. Kinningham Jr. held a family reunion in Lexington on Oct. 19.
Lyne S. Kinningham Jr. was the great-grandson of Sgt. William Patterson, a Revolutionary War soldier and Marietta Johnson Kinningham the daughter of Pvt. Isaac Johnson a confederate soldier.
Sgt. William Patterson received a land grant on Stinking Creek in Knox County for his service in the Revolutionary War. Pvt. Isaac Johnson was captured in Cumberland Gap and died in the Union Prison Camp in Chicago, Illinois.
Lyne S. and Marietta Johnson Kinningham and their 11 children made their home on Stinking Creek in Knox County. Several of the Kinningham children lived in the Pineville and Knox County area throughout their lives including Belle Kinningham Chappell (W.M.), Leelon Kinningham Wilson (Boyd), Frances Kinningham Helton (James S.), Kelsie Kinningham Ward (Arthur), Myrtle Kinningham Knuckles (Millard), Nan Kinningham Wilson (Cam), Edwin Kinningham (Maude), Charles Kinningham (Lucy), and Earl Kinningham (Dixie).
There were 86 family members in attendance including Richard Park and family of Corbin, Mary Charles Brown Salomone, Steve Brown, and Carl Bruner along with their families all of Knoxville, Tenn. Leelon Kinningham Wilson’s grandchildren including Marietta Lewis Case of Lexington, Allen and Kay Lewis of Harrogate Tenn., J.C. Helton of Pineville, Eloise Helton Drake of Somerset, and Frances (Cinder) Helton Parsons of Knoxville, Tenn. along with their families (Frances Kinningham Helton), Redwood Taylor of Lexington, Donna Durham Thompson of Fort Knox, and their families (Myrtle Kinningham Knuckles grandchildren), Jeanette Wilson Farley of Bowling Green and her family (Nan Kinningham Wilson), Ben Lyon Kinningham of Atlanta, Georgia, and Joan Kinningham Hampton of Lexington, Bill Ed and Misheala Hampton, Seth, William, and Grace, (family of Edwin Kinningham), and Cheryl Kinningham Hill and family of Versailles, along with the children of the late Karen Kinningham Apfel, Neil, Sandra, Alan, and Mike(husband) of Las Vegas, Nevada, representing the entire Honolulu, Hawaii family of their grandfather Charles Kinningham.
