JoAnn Hunter, 79, beloved mother, sister and friend, died Monday, September 16,2013 at her home in Winchester, Kentucky of cancer after a short illness.


JoAnn was born at Kettle Island, Kentucky, and graduated from Lone Jack High School. JoAnn worked for the Life and Casualty Insurance Company in Pineville, Kentucky and retired as Accounts Supervisor from Winchester Municipal Utilities after 23 years, and later from the Community Trust Bank, both in Winchester, Kentucky. She was a member of the Middlesboro Church of Christ in Middlesboro, and the Fairfax Church of Christ in Winchester, Kentucky.


She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Fred and Eileen Hickey Fore; step-mother Violet (Tish) Watkins Fore; infant son, David Glenn Hunter; brothers Thomas and James David (J.D.) Fore, and baby sister, Margaret Ellen Fore.


She is survived by her children, Patricia Hunter Hanley and son-in-law Thomas J. Hanley of Oneonta, New York; John Lyndon Hunter and his partner, and her son, Traci Hunter and Elijah Rose of Cynthiana, Kentucky; and her loving friend of 27 years, Dan Johnson.


Other survivors include her uncle and aunt Don and Willie Hickey, aunt Glenn Hickey, very special in-laws, Louise Hunter Eaton, and her husband Wendell of Louisville, Kentucky; Maxine Ramey Hunter of Harlan, Kentucky; Glenn Pearman and wife Kathleen of Conyers, Georgia; Lana Miller Perry, of Radcliff, Kentucky; Mr. Johnson’s sister’s, Yolanda Hodge and Susan Johnson, of Huntsville, Alabama and their families, as well as a host of very dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


She will be laid to rest next to her mother, baby sister and infant son on Thursday, September 19 in the Pineville Cemetery, Pineville, Kentucky. There will be a graveside service at 12 Noon Thursday officiated by her pastor, Mr. Scott Pena of Winchester, Kentucky


In lieu of flowers JoAnn asks that those who wish, please give from their hearts, to Hospice East of Winchester, Kentucky, or to their local Hospice.


The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:30 until 11:30 AM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hunter Family. Light a virtual candle and sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
