Mary Hester Rivera, 82, of Middlesboro, was carried to her Heavenly Home by angels on Tuesday, September 24, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Nathaniel Gibson and Mary Alice Gibson. She was a homemaker and a loving wife to the late Rev. Enrique “Pete” Rivera, she was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She was a believer in the Baptist Faith and was a member of the Meldrum Baptist Church. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her caregivers, her friends and her community.

Brothers: Joe Gibson of Tazewell, TN and Buster (Starr) Gibson of Louisville, KY
Brothers and sisters from Harlan, KY: Roscoe, Bonnie, Betty Jo, Dollie and Carolyn
Special Friends: Olivia Barton and Lorene Ogle
And a host of special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Daniels and Mr. Jack Barton presiding. Music will be provided by The Barton Family Trio and the Meldrum Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Yellow Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Patel and the staff of Middlesboro ARH and ARH Home Health.
