GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Bell County’s Lady Cats got a 29 point performance from junior ace Maci Morris and beat Cocke County 66-56 Saturday afternoon at the Landair Ladies Classic.


Morris tallied 21 of her points in the second half and basically took over the ball game, turning a tight struggle into a victory for the Lady Cats. Morgan Garnett chipped in with 11 points while Bell got eight points each from Katrina Johnson and Sarah Collins.


Cocke County (7-7) split its scoring equally with Mika Wester leading with 12 points and eight boards and Hannah Miller and Kaitlyn Martin each adding 10.


Bell County (8-2) was up 29-28 at halftime but Morris led the third quarter charge that saw the Cats outscore the Lady Red 18-6 to take control of the game.


The Lady Cats will play Shelbyville on Monday at 1 p.m. as the tournament continues.
