LEXINGTON (AP) — Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says junior running Braylon Heard is “doubtful” for Saturday’s game against Ohio because of a sprained ankle.
Heard ran for touchdowns of 73 and 43 yards on his only two carries to jump-start the Wildcats’ 59-14 victory over Tennessee-Martin. Stoops said he believes the Nebraska transfer hurt the ankle avoiding a tackle on his second TD.
Heard hasn’t practiced this week.
Stoops said during Wednesday’s Southeastern Conference teleconference that “I would list him as doubtful, which is disappointing because he’s worked so hard and waited a while having to sit out last year” per NCAA transfer rules.
Stoops noted that Kentucky has enough backfield depth to overcome Heard’s absence. Mikel Horton and Jojo Kemp combined for 76 yards and three TDs against UTM.
