HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — Media members covering the Southeastern Conference have pegged Alabama as the favorites to win the leage in voting as the SEC’s Media Days this week.


The Crimson Tide received 154 of the 293 votes for SEC champion in the preseason poll while defending champion Auburn was second with 75 votes. Those two teams were the top choices to win the conference’s Western Divsion with South Carolina narrowly picked to win the East over Georgia.


Media members also selected the preseason All-SEC team. Alabama led the way with nine players on the first team while Auburn had four and Georgia and Ole Miss both had three.


Tennessee was represented by first team linebacker A.J. Johnson and third team wide receiver Marquez North. Kentucky’s Alvin “Bud” Dupree was a second team pick at defensive line. The Vols were picked to finish fifth in the East while UK was picked to finish seventh.
