FT. WAYNE, Ind. — Bertha Evelyn Lasley, age 83, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Born in Middlesboro, on September 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Johns who died in a mining accident in Fork Ridge, Tenn., in January 1933, and the late Rosetta Cobb Johns Webb, who died February 27, 1955. She was baptized October 24, 1943, and was a member of the Capito Baptist Church. She was confirmed and became a member of the Emmanual Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne on May 20, 1990.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dealus Lasley, on March 18, 1987; her step-father, Clayton Webb; sisters Dorothy Johns Kaiser, Sylvia Couarm, Cornia Goins; brothers, Billy Webb, Bobby Webb, and Johnny Webb. She was the granddaughter of the late John and Eliza Ann Cobb, and the step- granddaughter of Nettie Cobb of Middlesboro. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother, who cherished her family and family gatherings She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and vacation travels to Florida.

Survivors include her daughters, Glenda (Ronald) Dornseif, Darlene (Ed) Judkins; son, Michael (Joy) Lasley; seven grandchildren, Tamara Roller, Kimberly Dornseif-Schenk, Michael Lasley, Ronald Dornseif, Meredith and Michelle Lasley, and Kaitlyn Judkins; seven great-grandchildren, Tim Dornseif, Makayla Dornseif-Schenk, Mitchell and Gabriella Roller, Harrison and Lily Lasley, and Samuel Dornseif; two sisters, Betty Omspaugh of El Paso, Texas, and Brenda Goins of Kokomo, Ind.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Thomas Eggold officiating.  Final resting place was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Memorials are suggested to Emmanual Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson.
